Veronica Heard, MS, ATC, CSCS, CES, CPT – Athletic Therapist
Veronica has over 20 years of experience in personal training and group exercise instruction and is a certified personal trainer with the National Federation of Personal Trainers (NFPT ID# 46431).

What is an Athletic Trainer?
Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession.
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

Zach Varela – Pitching Instructor
Zachary Varela is 23 years old and has been around baseball his entire life. He graduated from Elsinore High School in 2010 and accepted a scholarship to play baseball at UC Riverside. At UC Riverside he enjoyed success both pitching in the pen and starting. Varela was made co-captain of the Highlanders in 2014. After 4 years at UC Riverside Varela was chosen by the LA Angels in the 2014 draft. In pro ball Varela pitched solely out of the pen. After two seasons with the Angels Varela retired from professional baseball. Varela has also gained experience through coaching. He has coached high school level club teams as well as given one on one pitching lessons. With the experience gained through all that he has accomplished Varela is able to give expert advice on the art of pitching and pitcher’s arm maintenance.

Michael Bradley – Catching/Hitting Instructor
Michael Bradley is 22 years old has been playing baseball his whole life. He played at Etiwanda High School where he was a member of the 2011 CIF runner-up team his junior year. His senior year he was named team MVP and earned First Team All Baseline League honors. After high school, he went on to play locally at Citrus College for the next two years. During his second year at Citrus, he received a scholarship to continue playing at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Michael has played against some of the top programs in college baseball, such as TCU, Ole Miss, and the University of Missouri. He recently graduated from the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in May of 2016. Throughout his playing career, he has spent most of his time on the field as a catcher and first baseman. Because of his extensive time playing and being a student of the game, he has become a knowledgeable coach. He continues to share his passion for baseball, specifically catching, by giving lessons.

Dennis Powell – Pitching Instructor
Dennis Powell major league stops started with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1983. He made his major league pitching debut just 2 seasons after signing on July 7, 1985 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Dennis was a part of the 1985 National League Western Division Champion Dodgers. In 1987, Dennis was traded to the Seattle Mariner where he played until 1990. Dennis also played in the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles organizations. After 14 years of professional service, he had pitched in 207 games and finished his career with an ERA of 4.95. Before his retirement in 1997, Dennis had made pitching stops Internationally in Osaka, Japan, Dominican Republic, Cartagena Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico. His teaching slogan is “experience a style of teaching that not only enhances the athletes’ game but also the athlete”. Regardless of age or experience, Dennis is a great communicator and teacher.

Tyler Robles – Infield/Hitting Instructor
Tyler Robles began his baseball playing career when his was just a boy. He attended Etiwanda High School and was a two-time All-Conference player his junior and senior year. He was team MVP and made 1st team All Baseline League. After graduating high school, he played for SBVC where he helped the Wolverines win a pair of conference titles and was Second Team All-League his sophomore season and honorable mention All-State. After SBVC he transferred to UND continuing to play, then finally finishing his college career at Cal State San Bernardino where is was #5 in the CCAA in hitting his senior year batting .367 again making team MVP and CCAA honorable mention. Tyler has played Shortstop in addition to other infield positions. Tyler continues to share his passion for the game through coaching and player development.

Sharon Ott – Pilates Instructor
Sharon has been teaching Pilates since 2005. She is also a Barre instructor in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. Sharon enjoys taking yoga classes as well. She studied classical ballet for 20 years which supported her career in teaching Pilates. With Pilates there is a series of core-based movements and controlled exercises that include concentration, control, precision, and breath. Pilates can help you lengthen, tone, and strengthen your body. Sharon is married and has two boys (who work out at Iron Spikes) and play baseball. In Sharon’s free time she likes to paddle board and watch her kids surf.
